Federal Workers' Compensation (OWCP / DOL / FECA), Kansas City
Federal employees are covered under FECA, not state workers’ comp. We provide the physician-directed care and Department of Labor documentation your federal claim requires, across every agency and the Greater Kansas City metro.
In short: federal employees injured on the job are covered under the Federal Employees’ Compensation Act, administered by the OWCP, not state workers’ comp. We provide the physician-directed care and the documentation your federal claim requires.
The process
Your Path Through an OWCP Claim
-
File Your Claim
Report the injury and file your CA-1 (traumatic injury) or CA-2 (occupational disease) with your agency. We help you understand what the Department of Labor needs to accept it.
-
Start Authorized Care
We evaluate your injury and begin physician-directed treatment. For accepted OWCP claims, care is billed directly to the DOL, with no out-of-pocket cost to you.
-
Document Everything
We provide the objective findings and duty-status reports (CA-17) your claim requires, on time, so your benefits and treatment keep moving.
-
Recover and Return
Coordinated therapy and a documented return to duty, with case expansion, reopening or an independent exam if your condition changes.

Federal Workers' Compensation FAQ
What is federal workers’ compensation?
Federal employees injured on the job are covered under the Federal Employees’ Compensation Act (FECA), administered by the Department of Labor’s Office of Workers’ Compensation Programs (OWCP), not state workers’ compensation. It covers authorized medical care and related benefits for accepted work injuries.
How is it different from state workers’ comp?
State workers’ compensation covers private and state employees; FECA covers federal employees and is handled through the OWCP and forms like CA-1 and CA-2. The medical documentation requirements differ, which is why a clinic experienced with federal claims matters.
Which federal employees are eligible?
Federal civilian employees across agencies, including postal workers, TSA officers, VA employees, federal law enforcement and Bureau of Prisons staff. Eligibility for benefits is determined by the Department of Labor.
Is treatment $0 out-of-pocket?
For an accepted FECA claim, authorized treatment is billed directly to the Department of Labor, with no out-of-pocket cost to you. Bring your claim number and accepted conditions and we will confirm authorization.
How soon can I be seen?
Same-week appointments are typically available for federal injured workers.
