Carleigh Emanuel, OTD, OTR/L, is an occupational therapist at Core Medical Center who helps patients in Blue Springs and across the Greater Kansas City metro return to the everyday tasks an injury took away. Her work centers on the practical side of recovery: gripping a tool again, dressing without pain, getting back to a job or a hobby. With training as a Doctor of Occupational Therapy and additional grounding in cognitive behavioral techniques, she treats both the physical limitation and the frustration that comes with it.
Focus Areas
Occupational therapy is about function, not just the injured part. Carleigh evaluates how a condition affects the way you move through a normal day, then builds a plan to rebuild that capacity step by step. Her clinical focus includes:
- Hand, wrist and upper-extremity recovery, including grip strength, fine-motor control and post-injury range of motion
- Activities of daily living, helping patients regain independence with dressing, lifting, driving and self-care
- Return-to-work readiness, restoring the strength, coordination and tolerance a specific job demands
- Adjustment and coping support, using cognitive behavioral techniques to help patients manage pain, setbacks and the mental side of a long recovery
She works closely with the rest of the integrated team, including lead physical therapist Matt Elniff and the medical and rehabilitation staff, so therapy goals stay aligned with each patient’s overall treatment plan and any required injury documentation.
Approach to Patient Care
Carleigh listens first. Before a single exercise, she wants to understand what “back to normal” actually means for you, whether that is returning to a postal route, picking up a grandchild, or simply sleeping through the night. From there she sets concrete, measurable goals and adjusts them as you progress. Because Core Medical Center keeps medical, chiropractic, physical therapy, occupational therapy and rehabilitation under one roof in Blue Springs, your providers share notes and stay coordinated, which keeps recovery moving and your records consistent.
Services
Carleigh sees patients across several connected service lines at Core Medical Center:
- Occupational Therapy for work-injury recovery and functional restoration
- Injury Rehabilitation to rebuild strength and movement after an accident or surgery
- Behavioral Health Services for the cognitive and emotional side of long-term recovery
Many of her patients also work with our physical therapy team as part of a combined plan.
Same-week appointments are typically available. If an injury has changed how you handle daily life or your job, book a visit and Carleigh can help you build a clear path back.
